This CPD module is about current thinking on managing pain in palliative care. It will consider the treatment options for acute and chronic pain.
Goal
To provide an overview of how pain is managed in palliative care and the role that different drugs can play.
Objectives
After reading this module, pharmacy technicians should:
- Understand how effective analgesia can be provided to patients
- Be familiar with the drugs used in palliative care pain management.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is a statutory requirement for pharmacy technicians. Completion of this module will contribute to the nine pieces of CPD that must be recorded a year, as stipulated by the GPhC.
